Immune Health

Find yourself picking up every cold & flu going around? Do you have a history of recurrent antibiotic use?

Do you suffer from sinus or ear infections?

These are all signs you may have a weak immune system.

Why is immunity important?

The immune system is our defence system to guard our bod, protecting it from damaging forces from the environment and is crucial for survival.

The immune system is comprised of various organs, cells and proteins. After the nervous system, the immune system is the most complex system within our body.

When our immune system is functioning properly, we don’t notice it. However when this system is compromised, it cannot protect the body at the same high level from invading organisms. This then puts us at risk from infectious illnesses, debilitating diseases and even in some cases death.

Autoimmunity is where the body is unable to recognise self from non self, then begins to attack an area of the body as if it were a foreign invader. This can lead to conditions such as Hashimoto’s and Graves disease.

Signs of poor immunity:

Recurrent cold and flu’s | Recurrent respiratory infections such as bronchitis & laryngitis | Food intolerances | Cold sores | Hives | Slow wound healing | Hay fever | Recurrent urinary tract infections | Autoimmunity | Chronic stress | Nutrient deficiencies ie: vitamin D

How can Naturopathy help?

Each person is unique and therefore will have individual nutritional and lifestyle requirements to improve and maintain a healthy immune system.

Melissa will work with you to understand the reasoning behind your compromised immunity and take the time to explain how everything is interrelated. Because 70% of our immune system is created in the gut this may be an area to address. Equally important is correcting nutrient deficiencies such as vitamin D.

It’s recommended to book in a preventative appointment heading into the cooler months to ensure you’re ready for the flu season. However if you are struck down you can also book an acute winter consultation which runs for 20 minutes and will provide you with the nutritional and herbal supplies to get you feeling great again.

If you would like to support your immune system book your appointment by calling
0400 770 322 or book online.
