As a qualified naturopath, Melissa has a passion for evidence based medicine and helping people achieve optimal health and continued wellbeing.
Melissa studied for 4 years to obtain a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Naturopathy through Endeavour College of Natural Health, Brisbane, Australia. She also stays continually up to date with the latest in scientific research through journals, seminars and conferences, ensuring the best possible treatment outcomes for her patients.
Melissa's own personal health journey has played a large role in making her the practitioner she is today. Melissa suffered with severe anxiety and depression as a teenager and with the help of a naturopath found she could manage these with the use of herbal and nutritional medicine. Then in 2013, part way through her studies, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She took on her diagnosis with a clear and optimistic mind and has now been in remission for 5 years.
Melissa's own health and life experiences have taught her that wellbeing is both physical and mental and requires an individualised approach as each person is unique.
As a holistic practitioner Melissa aims to work with her patients to uncover the underlying cause of their presenting health concern. She draws on the use of pathology and functional testing and current scientific evidence along with a thorough case history to gain a true understanding of an individuals current health status. She incorporates the use of herbal medicine, nutritional therapies and lifestyle and dietary modification to achieve optimal results for each of her patients.
While Melissa sees all manner of health concerns in her clinical practice, she has a particular interest in digestive health and hormones including:
